Production Principles: Photographics

For Photographics, we were tasked to create a photographic that presents three images merged into one photo with square ratio and black and white contrast. As someone who does photography as a hobby in my spare time, this task seemed to enhance my skills into photo editing outside of the cropping and filtering that I can do on my phone.

To start off this task, I went out to take some photos outside. Specifically, onsite at UAL, London and places that are local to me at home. I didn’t realise we only need to take 9 photos so below are some of my favourites that I’ve taken.

After some photo taken, I’ve selected three photos to use in my photographic and imported them into Photoshop, where I can erase backgrounds, change the contrast of photos and merge them together to create a photographic. The two examples below are my first attempts of making my photographic. They have been went unused as they didn’t match to the abstract presentation I was aiming for within my work. So I’ve removed one of the photos and imported another one in its place.

The final outcome of my photographic can be seen below. I feel with the improvements I’ve made to my piece by replacing one of the images, has not only created something abstract, but also it develops a open mind to what this piece might provide to the viewer with its shapes, lighting and contrast that if you take away the knowledge of this piece being a mixture of three images, it could be believable that this was a real photo. That is my own interpretation of my work.
